We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated educator to join our team as a High School Learning Assistant Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to work with students, teachers, and community members to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities- Collaborate with teachers to develop and implement lesson plans that cater to diverse learning needs
- Provide individualized support to students with special education needs
- Facilitate classroom discussions and activities that promote social-emotional learning and self-regulation
- Develop and maintain relationships with community members, including Elders and families, to promote cultural understanding and community involvement
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and stay up-to-date with best practices in inclusive education
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent with a specialization in Secondary Education and experience in Special Education
- Experience working with diverse student populations and facilitating collaborative team environments
- Strong understanding of differentiated learning pedagogy and ability to adapt to diverse learning needs
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and community members
- Ability to work collaboratively with the Champagne and Aishihik First Nations people, community Elders, families, and students to promote greater community involvement in school-based activities and educational programming
- Experience teaching in a multi-grade class and integrating self-regulation and social-emotional care practices in the classroom
- Knowledge of and experience delivering differentiated learning pedagogy and on-the-land curriculum
- Ability to communicate effectively with parents and caregivers, and to develop and implement Student Learning Plans, Behaviour Plans, Safety Plans, and Individual Education Plans
