We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a High School Learning Assistant Teacher. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment and make a positive impact on the lives of our students.
Key Responsibilities- Support classroom teachers in identifying and programming for students with diverse learning needs
- Facilitate collaborative multi-disciplinary School Based Teams to maximize student potential
- Deliver differentiated learning pedagogy and integrate self-regulation and social-emotional care practices in the classroom
- Work collaboratively with Indigenous learners, community Elders, families, and students to promote greater community involvement in school-based activities and educational programming
- Develop and implement Student Learning Plans, Behaviour Plans, Safety Plans, and Individual Education Plans
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers
- Bachelor of Education or equivalent with a specialization in Secondary Education and coursework and/or experience in Special Education
- Experience working with and facilitating collaborative multi-disciplinary School Based Teams
- Understanding of and experience delivering differentiated learning pedagogy
- Ability to work collaboratively and maintain an authentic relationship with the community
- Strong classroom management, planning, and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaborative skills
- Experience teaching in a multi-grade class
- Experience integrating self-regulation and social-emotional care practices in the classroom
- Experience working with Indigenous learners in a culturally diverse community
- Ability to learn and integrate Champagne and Aishihik First Nation culture and worldview, and the Southern Tutchone language, in the classroom
