About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our team as a Mental Health Nurse Specialist. In this role, you will work collaboratively with interprofessional care teams to provide high-quality treatment and care management services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement comprehensive treatment plans based on client needs and best practices
- Provide direct nursing care to clients, including physical and psychosocial assessments, developing care plans, and implementing other treatment modalities
- Work from a strengths-based model, using motivational interviewing and engagement techniques to support clients in accessing appropriate services
- Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with clients and their informal support networks
- Provide crisis intervention, individual counseling, and education services to clients and their support networks
- Consult and collaborate with members of the interprofessional care team to ensure a coordinated approach to treatment
Requirements
- Graduation from an approved School of Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing
- Two years recent related experience providing treatment services to individuals with mental health and/or concurrent disorders
- Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse and/or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and access to personal vehicle with appropriate insurance coverage
