About the Role

This is a senior-level position within the Data Science team at Wawanesa Insurance. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, deploying, and monitoring machine learning models to support business growth and improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Collaborate with data analysts and machine learning engineers to design and develop machine learning models that meet business needs.
  • Deployment and Monitoring: Work with software and data engineers to ensure infrastructure and data pipelines are structured to deploy machine learning solutions.
  • Problem Statement Translation: Translate business and functional needs into machine learning problem statements.
  • Deliverable Creation: Translate complex machine learning problem statements into specific deliverables and requirements.
  • Algorithm Assessment: Assess and improve algorithms, feature sets, and validation metrics received from data analysts and machine learning engineers.
  • Code Conversion: Convert exploration team's code into robust, production-level solutions, including CI/CD pipeline integration and infrastructure setup for training and monitoring.
  • MLOps Infrastructure: Oversee the ongoing enhancement and maintenance of our model-agnostic MLOps infrastructure and Python package.
  • Model Deployment: Collaborate with development teams to test and deploy machine learning models.
  • Performance Evaluation: Create metrics to continuously evaluate the performance of machine learning solutions.
  • Compliance and Governance: Ensure adherence to performance standards and compliance with data security and model governance requirements.
Requirements
  • Experience: More than five years of experience in developing and deploying enterprise-scale machine learning solutions.
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in software engineering, data science, computer science, or a related quantitative field (or equivalent work experience). An advanced degree in a related quantitative field is preferred.
  • Skills: Proficiency in machine learning algorithms, experience in code reproducibility and version control, advanced programming skills with Python and SQL, proficiency in Linux, Bash, and Docker.
  • Soft Skills: Exceptional communication skills, ability to translate technical concepts into appropriate language for all stakeholders, highly creative and collaborative, commitment to high standards of ethics, regulatory compliance, customer service, and business integrity.
