Key Responsibilities- Lead the design, development, implementation, and field testing of control systems based on Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC).
- Analyze client specifications and convert them into detailed technical requirements.
- Develop comprehensive control system architectures, incorporating actuators, motors, sensors, and communication protocols.
- Select, configure, and program PLCs, motor drives, and other essential control system hardware.
- Create and maintain control system design software using recognized programming languages.
- Conduct testing, validation, and documentation of electrical and control systems to ensure compliance with technical specifications.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and control system challenges, both in laboratory settings and field environments.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineering staff.
- Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive control system documentation, including schematics, data interface control documents (ICDs), ladder diagrams, and functional specifications.
Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related discipline, along with:
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience as a Controls Engineer, particularly in industrial digital communication protocols and machine control applications.
- Demonstrated expertise in designing, developing, and implementing resilient control systems.
- A solid understanding of electrical principles and power systems.
- In-depth knowledge of PLC programming, design languages, and control system hardware.
- Experience in commissioning control systems and troubleshooting input/output (I/O) issues.
- The ability to work autonomously while managing multiple projects concurrently.
- Experience with cybersecurity is considered an asset.
