About the Role

Aecon is seeking a highly skilled EHS Advisor to join our Industrial Division in Sherwood Park, Alberta. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in promoting a health, safety, and environmental culture within our organization.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the night shift at our Sherwood Park Modyard
  • Conduct safety orientations for workers, owners, and clients
  • Train employees on Aecon's Health, Safety, and Environmental Manual
  • Develop and implement workplace safety plans, including emergency response plans and environmental or site safety plans
  • Conduct workplace inspections, behavior-based observations, and audits
  • Update Material Safety Data Sheets as required
  • Distribute safety materials, supplies, and equipment
  • Present safety information to clients
  • Promote Aecon's safety system to potential industry clients
  • Conduct studies and analyze EHS data trends
  • Recommend and monitor corrective actions
  • Assist with workers' compensation claims
  • Develop return-to-work and modified work programs
  • Investigate incidents
  • MEDIATE health and safety issues for resolution
  • Liaise with government agencies as required
  • Prepare and assist with external safety audits
  • Coordinate environmental issues
  • Gather and provide EHS-based statistics
Requirements
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in the role, plus NCSO certification
  • Preference given to candidates with CRST certification and OHS Certificate or Diploma
  • Intermediate to advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent meeting and training facilitation skills
  • Adaptable and flexible to an ever-changing environment
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
