Job Summary

The York Region District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Full-Time Mental Health Coach for Children and Youth to join our team. As a key member of our team, you will provide addiction and mental health promotion and prevention services to children, youth, and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming that meets the objectives of the MHCB initiative.
  • Work with school staff, parents, and community members to increase their knowledge, skills, and competence related to mental health and illness issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with children, youth, and families, and act as a go-to mental health subject matter expert for students, staff, parents, and community partners.
  • Identify and facilitate access for individuals who need referral to specialized addiction and mental health services.
  • Ensure all documentation is in compliance with HIA and FOIPP, and ensure compliance with all relevant AHS policies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • A related post-secondary degree or diploma in social sciences, or relevant courses and experience.
  • At least 2 years of working experience in addiction and mental health or health/human services-related roles preferred.
  • Knowledge of addiction and mental health is required.
  • Familiar with the developmental, educational, emotional, social, and recreational needs of children, youth, and families.

Requirements:

  • Provide an acceptable current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check.
  • Proof of licensure or registration with the approved Alberta regulatory college, prior to commencing duties where applicable.
