Mental Health and Wellness Coach

Job Summary
The York Region District School Board is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health and Wellness Coach to join our team. As a key member of our MHCB initiative, you will provide addiction and mental health promotion and prevention services to children, youth, and families through Tier 1 universal programming.
Working collaboratively with our team, you will develop and deliver developmentally appropriate, evidence-based programming that meets the objectives of the MHCB initiative. Your role will involve delivering programming in large and small group settings, focusing on increasing knowledge, building skills, and fostering abilities that enable others to better their mental health and wellness.
You will work closely with school staff, parents, and community members to increase their knowledge, skills, and competence related to mental health and illness issues. As a Success Coach, you will build and maintain strong relationships with children, youth, and families, and help identify and facilitate access to specialized addiction and mental health services when needed.
Key qualifications for this role include a related post-secondary degree or diploma in social sciences, or relevant courses and experience. You should have at least 2 years of working experience in addiction and mental health or health/human services, and be knowledgeable about addiction and mental health services.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver evidence-based programming for children, youth, and families
- Work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and community members to increase knowledge and skills related to mental health and illness issues
- Build and maintain strong relationships with children, youth, and families
- Help identify and facilitate access to specialized addiction and mental health services when needed
- Ensure all documentation complies with HIA and FOIPP, and adheres to relevant AHS policies
- Participate in evaluation activities and survey data collection as required by AHS
Requirements:
- Related post-secondary degree or diploma in social sciences, or relevant courses and experience
- At least 2 years of working experience in addiction and mental health or health/human services
- Knowledge of addiction and mental health services
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and community members
- Strong relationship-building skills
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
