We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Educational Assistant to join our team at the Upper Canada District School Board.
Job Summary:
The Educational Assistant will provide support to students with exceptional needs in a school setting. This role involves working under the direction of the Principal and in consultation with the Learning Resource Teacher and classroom teacher to provide individualized support to students.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the instruction of individual and/or groups of students in an academic and/or integrated class environment
- Oversee special education students and implement special education programs related to behaviour, communication, intellectual or physical needs
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of specific social/emotional and physical needs of students with learning disabilities, behavioural challenges, developmental disabilities, or physical challenges
Qualifications and Experience:
The successful candidate will possess a secondary school diploma and two year or three year Community College Diploma in one of the following: Child & Youth Worker, Registered Early Childhood Educator, Behavioural Science Technician, Educational Assistant, Developmental Services Worker or Social Service Worker, Registered Nurse, Registered Nursing Assistant or Registered Practical Nurse.
Bachelor Degrees in Child Studies, Sociology and Psychology will be recognized. Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training/certification is an asset.
