About the RoleThis role involves supervising a team of workers to deliver track maintenance projects, adhering to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in rail construction, maintenance, and planning, with experience in managing multiple crews and delivering successful projects.
Key Responsibilities- Safety: Ensure a safe working environment for yourself, your crew, and the public by embracing our Safe Start culture and adhering to industry and company policies and procedures.
- Project Planning: Review project contracts and documents, plan work activities, and develop safety action plans to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Crew Management: Supervise day-to-day operations, allocate resources (labor, equipment, materials), and conduct regular performance reviews to ensure crew members are meeting company goals.
- Communication: Conduct daily briefings with your crew to review production goals, performance feedback, safety, schedule, hazards, and solicit feedback from workers.
- Administrative Tasks: Perform various administrative tasks such as production reports, time collection, equipment logs, inspection reports, and cost reports.
- Education: Completion of grade 12 or equivalent.
- Experience: 5-10 years of construction experience on railway and/or maintenance environments, including experience with tie changes, constructing, maintaining or repairing track, cutting, drilling, or gauging rail, constructing turnouts, distressing rail, rail changes, and other related activities.
- Certifications: Valid Canadian Railway Operating Rules (CROR) and Track Inspection Guideline (TIG) certifications. Must be willing to provide training if certifications have expired.
- Supervisory Experience: Proven track record of supervising and organizing work for multiple crews of workers.
- Physical Abilities: Must be physically fit, in good condition, and have excellent vision, hearing, and eye-hand coordination to perform the duties of the job.
- Salary: $115,000-$125,000 per year.
