About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a skilled Infant Feeding Specialist to join our team in the Northern Zone, Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre. As a specialist resource for families and front-line staff, you will collaborate with the Early Years team to promote breastfeeding and healthy infant feeding practices.

This role involves providing consultative services, education, orientation, and mentorship while working within a collaborative model of care. You will advocate for evidence-based and trauma-informed support for families, engaging with community and healthcare partners to build capacity and promote best practices related to infant feeding.

About the Job
  • This permanent full-time position requires work at multiple sites and travel between various community locations throughout the area.
  • You will be reporting to the Manager of Early Years and must have a strong understanding of health equity and health promotion activities related to breastfeeding and infant feeding.
  • The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare-related discipline and International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant Certification or ability to obtain within 3 years.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in a healthcare related discipline (Dietician, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, or Registered Nurse)
  • International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant Certification or able to obtain within 3 years of employment
  • Minimum one (1) year related experience required
  • Experience providing direct breastfeeding/infant feeding support and education.
  • Experience providing infant feeding support in public health or community settings an asset.
