Job Title: Corporate Controller

About the Role:

Qualico Canada is seeking a seasoned Corporate Controller to join our team. As a key member of our finance leadership team, you will be responsible for providing strategic financial guidance and oversight to support the company's growth and success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the accounting team and provide guidance, training, and development opportunities to promote a culture of collaboration and accountability.
  • Prepare and review annual consolidated financial plans, budgets, reports, and audit information to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Provide monthly consolidated financial profit and loss statements, reports, and forecasts for joint arrangements, investments, and subsidiaries to support informed business decisions.
  • Oversee the preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts, working closely with other departments to ensure alignment with company objectives.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial reporting.
  • Liaise with the business software team to prioritize system strategy and ensure seamless integration with financial operations.
  • Liaise with corporate management to ensure initiatives are administered in compliance with legal, tax, and accounting objectives.
  • Participate and contribute to corporate and company-wide initiatives to drive business growth and success.

Ideal Experience and Qualifications:

  • Professional certifications as CPA, CA, CGA, or CMA are required.
  • 10 years of progressive accounting experience at the Controller level, with a background in working with consolidated financial statements.
  • Understanding of GAAP, consolidation accounting, income tax, and accounting standards for private enterprise (ASPE).
  • Prior working experience in real estate development, manufacturing, and/or construction is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiating, influencing, prioritization, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
  • A collaborator who builds trusting and successful working relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and partners.
  • A leader who takes responsibility for the outcomes of decisions and actions, ensuring transparency and integrity in all financial dealings, and who encourages the same in their team.
