We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Education Consultant to join our team at the Government of Nova Scotia. As a key member of our Student Equity and Support Services Branch, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic achievement and well-being of all students in Nova Scotia.
Key Responsibilities- Lead the implementation of the Comprehensive School Counselling (CSC) Framework to meet the changing and complex realities of school communities.
- Collaborate with regional and board teams, EECD colleagues, and external partners to promote and enhance access to culturally and linguistically responsive instructional/counselling practices.
- Develop and implement research-proven resources, initiatives, and training opportunities as part of the comprehensive school counselling framework.
- Support the recruitment and retention of qualified School Counsellors with the knowledge and expertise to provide responsive, preventative, and proactive social emotional learning, behavioral and mental health programming in our schools.
- Assist in implementing and monitoring various initiatives in the areas of Well-Being/Behavior, Learning and Achievement, and Life Transition and Career Planning.
- A Master of Education or Arts in School Counselling, plus eight years related experience.
- OR A Bachelor of Education Degree or eligibility to be certified through the Nova Scotia Office of Teacher Certification
- A minimum of eight (8) years of successful and recent school-based experience as a School Counsellor.
- Experience in an education leadership role (coach/mentor, consultant, coordinator, school administration, or equivalent) is required.
- Required experience includes working with teachers and school board staff in the public school system in the areas of human rights education, cultural proficiency and culturally responsive teaching.
