Energy Systems Operations Specialist

FortisBC is seeking a highly skilled Energy Systems Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Energy Systems Operations group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our energy systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support Energy Systems Operation Leads/Managers in coordinating and executing special projects, such as replacing or repairing on-site assets.
- Perform entry-level tasks, including regular visual inspections and reporting for on-site FAES assets.
- Organize access to sites, monitor on-site asset housekeeping requirements, and facilitate preventative maintenance work performed by 3rd party contractors.
- Validate work performed to maintain quality and ensure compliance with scope of work.
- On-site maintenance and storage of documents, spare parts, and other relevant materials.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers, contractors, internal stakeholders, and other departments.
- Remain current and knowledgeable about various energy systems, including conventional and alternative systems.
Requirements:
- Completion of a diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a related field, such as Facilities Management, Operations Management, Energy Management, or HVAC.
- A minimum of two (2) years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Certificate in operations management or equivalent experience is an asset.
- Knowledge of direct digital control (DDC) is considered an asset.
- A valid driver's license (Class 5) and a clean driving record.
- Formal operational and safety training, including First Aid/CPR, H2S Alive, TDG/WHMIS, and Defensive Driving.
- Knowledge of safety management, processes, and procedures.
- Knowledge of various energy systems, conventional and alternative systems, including HVAC and R, pumps, fans, motors, and boilers.
- Knowledge of computer and MS Office systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and demanding work schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
