Energy Systems Operations Specialist

FortisBC is seeking a highly skilled Energy Systems Operations Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Energy Systems Operations group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our energy systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Support Energy Systems Operation Leads/Managers in coordinating and executing special projects, such as asset replacement and repair.
- Perform regular visual inspections and reporting for on-site assets, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements.
- Organize and monitor on-site asset housekeeping requirements, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
- Facilitate and monitor preventative maintenance work performed by 3rd party contractors on FAES assets, validating work performed to maintain quality.
- On-site maintenance and storage of all documents, spare parts, and other relevant materials for on-site FAES assets.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with customers, contractors, internal stakeholders, and other departments, remaining current and knowledgeable about various energy systems.
- Participate in industry working groups and training as required.
- Completion of a diploma from an accredited post-secondary institution in a related field such as Facilities Management, Operations Management, Energy Management, or HVAC.
- A minimum of two (2) years of related professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- Certificate in operations management or candidate will be considered as an asset.
- Knowledge of direct digital control (DDC) would be considered an asset.
- A valid drivers license (Class 5) and a clean driving record.
- Formal operational and safety training including: First Aid / CPR, H2S Alive, TDG / WHMIS, and Defensive Driving.
- Knowledge of safety management, processes, and procedures.
- Knowledge of various energy systems, conventional and alternative systems including, heating, cooling, and ventilation (HVAC & R, pumps, fans, motors, boilers) would be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of computer and MS Office systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and demanding work schedules.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
