Job Description:

The Payroll Associate at Langara College is responsible for the preparation and accuracy of a computerized payroll system according to terms and conditions outlined in collective agreements, College policies, employment standards, and other governing agencies' acts and regulations. This role audits transactions entered by other users in the system to ensure employees' pay is accurate and complete, generating reports, calculating remittances, responding to payroll inquiries, and communicating closely with the People and Culture team to process employee information effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Preparation and accuracy of a computerized payroll system

Qualifications:
  • Grade 12 and National Payroll Institute Payroll Compliance Professional (PCP) certification
  • Four years of recent related payroll experience using a computerized payroll program
  • Considerable knowledge of payroll methods, practices, and procedures
  • Sound knowledge of benefits policies, reconciliation, and regulations
  • Intermediate level computer skills with Office 365 and Excel expertise

  • Multitasking and meeting strict deadlines
  • Decision-making and working with limited supervision
  • Exercise of initiative and contributing to departmental operations

  • Mathematical calculations with speed and accuracy
