Senior Payroll Specialist

As a key member of our Canadian Payroll team, you will report to the Supervisor Payroll and be responsible for overseeing the administration of multi-provincial payroll across various entities and systems, ensuring strategic alignment and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide expert guidance on complex payroll practices, staying ahead of industry trends and legislative changes.
  • Lead the resolution of sophisticated payroll issues for all stakeholders, including government agencies.
  • Ensure rigorous compliance and alignment of payroll with internal policies, external regulations, and best practices.
  • Supervise detailed payroll processing, ensuring accuracy in earnings, deductions, and benefit calculations.
  • Manage complex cases of garnishments, child support, and alimony payments.
  • Lead the administration of union dues, pension plans, retirement savings, and employee stock purchase plans.
  • Develop and maintain up-to-date, compliant payroll procedures and documentation.
  • Mentor and lead payroll team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
  • Provide expert guidance and support to payroll staff in handling complex and high-impact issues.
  • Lead year-end processing, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and addressing complex queries.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for internal and external audits, representing payroll operations.
  • Develop and implement payroll-related policies and procedures, ensuring compliance and operational excellence.

We offer a competitive salary, flexible benefits, share ownership plan, and defined contribution pension plan. A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field is required, along with a minimum of 10 years of experience in payroll processing and management, with significant experience in a leadership role. PCP or CPM certification from The Canadian Payroll Association, or equivalent, is also required. Bilingual in French and English, with exceptional communication skills, is essential. Advanced proficiency in payroll software, Microsoft Office suite, and Oracle is necessary for this role.
