Gas Special Inspections Engineer
Intertek is seeking a skilled Gas Special Inspections Engineer to join our Electrical team in Coquitlam, BC. This role involves evaluating and inspecting medium/large scale fuel-fired equipment used in oil & gas, mining, manufacturing, and commercial HVAC industries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to sales team to determine project scope and develop pricing estimates and project timelines.
- Directly work with the Fuel SI program lead and represent the Fuel SI program through field inspections.
- Review process data, P&ID, drawings, BOM, and sequence of operations documents for equipment approvals.
- Conduct gas field inspections at clients' locations throughout North America, with a focus on western Canada locations.
- Review Fuel SI application forms from potential clients and recommend the most effective path towards certification/approvals for fuel-fired equipment.
- Conduct reviews and provide process improvements based on Canadian safety standards.
- Attend technical or industry association meetings and develop networking with current and future clients.
- Travel to various client sites in North America, may also involve some overseas travel.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering.
- 2+ years' experience in oil & gas process equipment.
- Demonstrated experience with oil & gas process equipment.
- Required - registration as a Professional Engineer (PEng) or eligibility for registration in BC, Alberta, and QC.
- Familiar with North American oil & gas safety codes and standards, including CSA B149 Series, UL, ANSI, NFPA, ISO.
- Hands-on experience in process instrumentation and process control, including safeguard control systems and PLC.
- Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills and computer skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Ability to travel 75%.
- A valid driver's license and reliable driving record is required.
