About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Civil Engineer to join our Site Engineering Department at Highland Valley Copper. As a Project Engineer-Civil, you will be responsible for the design, procurement, and construction of sustaining engineering projects, including brownfield projects with capital expenditures ranging from $250K to $5M.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design, procurement, and construction of sustaining engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Provide technical expertise to carry out civil engineering services and projects, including water pumping, slurry pumping, pipelines, infrastructure relocations, and concrete and civil works.
  • Control project costs and schedule, and provide accurate reporting throughout all project phases.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders within management and operational teams, and ensure effective communication of key information.
  • Improve project delivery continually by applying relevant lessons learned and maintaining detailed records.
  • Look for and drive continuous improvement ideas, including areas focused on technology and innovation.
  • Contribute to the overall efficiency of the Site Engineering department by performing other technical functions as assigned.
  • Facilitate management of change and risk assessments.
  • Collaborate on developing technical scopes and business justifications for sustaining and betterment projects.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to ensure that all structural, mechanical, and electrical elements meet industry standards, relevant codes, and best practices.
  • Oversee hourly workers and supervise on-site consultants and contractors during construction.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (EGBC).
  • 3-5 years of Project Management experience; operational experience with mining/heavy industrial work would be considered an asset.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D would be considered an asset.
  • Must have a valid driver's license.
