As the Director of Community Engagement and Relations at BC Ferries, you will play a key role in shaping our community engagement strategy and providing strategic advice to our staff. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our organization and the communities we serve.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive community engagement strategy that aligns with BC Ferries' goals and objectives.
- Provide strategic advice and guidance to BC Ferries staff on community relations and engagement.
- Collaborate with advisory groups and panels to nudge behavioral change and introduce new processes, services, and experiences.
- Lead all aspects of community and interested/impacted group outreach, engagement, and evaluation.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with community stakeholders, including local governments, community organizations, and advocacy groups.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in community engagement and relations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Professional Communications, Public Affairs, Public Engagement, or a related field.
- Professional designation with International Association of Public Participation (IAP2) or other similar designations.
- 1-3 years of experience in working with local, provincial, and/or federal governments.
- 4-6 years of supervisory experience, including mentorship, performance management, and people administration.
- Extensive experience in strategic communications and community engagement, with a strong understanding of media relations, social media, and marketing principles.
- Understanding of engagement practices, including trauma-informed inquiry, decolonizing practices, and social and accessible equity-based inquiry.
