Salary Range: $58,200 - $73,000

Job Purpose: The Line Technician is responsible for the placement of aerial fiber cable and all facets of outside plant construction. This involves climbing poles, using ladders, operating bucket or line trucks, and placing buried cable or running drops as required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform all duties related to telecommunication line placement and construction
  • Safely operate and maintain aerial bucket/line trucks, reel trailers, lashers, and associated equipment
  • Install hardware, strand, anchors, down guys, overhead guys, etc.
  • Install fiber and coax cables from pole to pole, manholes, into buildings, etc.
  • Follow all safety protocols and actively promote safe practices within the crew
  • Perform construction duties while on a ladder
  • Climb poles at varying heights to perform construction tasks
  • Respond to network issues, performing swift problem analysis, troubleshooting diagnosis, and prompt repair to ensure service restoration objectives are met
  • Accurately prepare and complete concise reports detailing repair data: network location(s), materials used, time, etc.
Qualifications
  • Gr.12 High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in CATV/fiber telecom industry preferred
  • Excellent English speaking/communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Proficient computer skills (specifically MS Outlook; Word, Excel)
  • Ability to work at heights above 30ft
  • Ability to lift equipment/ladders up to 75lbs
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Work Environment: This role requires a standard Monday-to-Friday schedule (8am – 5pm) with occasional weekend or overnight shifts and some regular after-hours support during maintenance windows (2am-6am). Most tasks are performed outdoors in various weather conditions, and travel up to 90% of the time is expected, covering New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. You may be assigned to multiple sites, routes, and areas and asked to join an on-call rotation to provide emergency support to our clients.
