Delmanor Communities is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Building Services to lead our facilities management team. As a key member of our senior leadership team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our buildings and providing a safe and welcoming environment for our residents and staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all aspects of facilities management, including housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, and capital renewal projects.
  • Lead and manage a team of facilities staff to ensure the successful opening and stabilization of new properties.
  • Develop and implement strategies for facilities management and capital renovation projects, including budgeting and quality control.
  • Manage the lifecycle of capital renovation projects, including scheduling and overseeing quality control.
  • Advise the business on technological advances in building maintenance processes and procedures.
  • Review and create administrative programs and practices to leverage purchasing power and economies of scale.
  • Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory obligations, including health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct annual property reviews and vehicle insurance to mitigate risk.
  • Project management liaison with Tridel's construction arm, Deltera, for construction of new sites.
  • Budget planning for operational budgets.
  • Provide support to Environmental Managers in people management skills and building technical knowledge.
  • Provide 24/7 support for large-scale building emergencies.

Requirements:

  • Minimum five years' experience in a Building Services management role.
  • Post-secondary Certificate, Diploma, or Degree.
  • Knowledge of the Building Code and ability to interpret it.
  • Strong contract negotiation skills.
  • Experience maintaining common areas in a hotel, retirement community, long-term care facility, or hospital.
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing people, including coaching and development of department managers.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale renovation projects and budgets.
  • Highly proactive style of work with a demonstrated track record of developing innovative approaches.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and analytical skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
