About the Role

Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a Recreation Assistant to join our team at Cedarview Lodge in North Vancouver, BC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Recreation Therapist to develop and implement recreation programs for patients/residents.
  • Organize and oversee patients/residents on outings, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Coordinate the transportation of patients/residents to and from activities, utilizing a bus with a passenger seating capacity of up to 25 passengers.
  • Demonstrate techniques of recreation activities and adapt them to meet the needs of patients/residents.
  • Provide functional direction to volunteers and evaluate their performance.
  • Report observations of patient/resident progress to the Recreation Therapist or interdisciplinary team.
  • Maintain inventory of equipment and supplies, ensuring they are available for use in recreation activities.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Recreation Diploma Program or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid Class 4 vehicle license (unrestricted) may be required.
