Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Recreation Therapist Assistant to join our team. As a key member of our recreation therapy department, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the recreation therapy team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist recreation therapists in planning, implementing, and evaluating recreation therapy programs for patients.
  • Conduct individual and group activities, such as arts and crafts, cooking, music, sports, games, and gardening, in consultation with recreation therapists.
  • Monitor and evaluate patient progress, reporting relevant observations to recreation therapists and other healthcare professionals.
  • Set up and organize equipment and supplies for recreation programs.
  • Transport patients on group outings, operating a passenger bus with a seating capacity of 11 to 25 passengers.
  • Complete required reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Liaise with recreation therapists to support student placements.
Requirements
  • Grade 12, completion of a Recreation Therapy Program, plus two (2) years' recent, related experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Valid class 4 vehicle license (unrestricted).
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to teach.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
