About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Dietitian to join our Primary Health Care team. As a member of our team, you will provide expert knowledge and skills on a wide range of issues from advocacy to assessment to case management. You will work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in health promotion, illness prevention, screening, treatment, and monitoring of people living with diabetes. They will also have expertise in supporting people living with other chronic health problems, community development, and advocacy. The ideal candidate will be able to work independently as well as within a multidisciplinary team environment.

About You
  • We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition and a Dietetic internship. Current membership in the Nova Scotia Dietetic Association is required, and annual continuing education to maintain Nova Scotia licensure is also necessary.
  • Two years of clinical experience is preferred, as is membership in Dietitians of Canada. Current CPR/BLS certification is required, and designation as a Certified Diabetes Educator is also preferred.
  • The ideal candidate will have experience with group education, demonstrated time management and organizational skills, and familiarity with principles of Motivational Interviewing.
  • They will also have the ability to work collaboratively with other disciplines and committees to achieve excellence in patient care, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective research and analytical thinking skills are also essential, and competencies in other languages are an asset, with French being preferred.
Hours
  • This is a permanent part-time position, with 22.5 hours bi-weekly.
Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $32.94 - $43.42, as well as eligibility for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
