Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Aquatic Program Coordinator to join our team at the YMCA of Greater Vancouver. As a Lifeguard and Swim Instructor, you will be responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable experience for our members and participants in our aquatic programs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide lifeguarding services and ensure the safety of all members and participants in the aquatic area.
  • Instruct swimming lessons and aquatic programs, promoting water safety and confidence in our participants.
  • Perform administrative duties related to the delivery of aquatic programs, including scheduling, registration, and communication with participants and staff.
  • Assist in the training and supervision of aquatic volunteers and staff.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the aquatic facility, performing janitorial and maintenance duties as required.
  • Assist with the delivery of aquatic programs and special events, working collaboratively with other staff and volunteers.

Requirements:

  • Current Standard First Aid certificate (valid within 3 years)
  • CPR level C and AED certificate (valid within 1 year)
  • National Lifeguard - Pool Option
  • Swim Instructor certification or equivalent
  • Experience as a Lifeguard or Swimming Instructor - preferred
  • YMCA Aquatic Fitness Certificate, or equivalent – preferred
  • Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) or equivalent
  • Aquatic related certifications from a recognized certifying body (LSS, Red Cross, BCRPA, etc.) - preferred
  • High-school, must have completed Grade 10. Must be at least 16 years of age
  • Access to reliable transportation or a vehicle
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Reference Check/Vulnerable Sector Search issued no later than six (6) months preceding your start date
  • 3 professional references
