Job Summary

CIBC is seeking a highly skilled Senior Relationship Manager to join our Indigenous Markets team. As a key relationship manager, you will be responsible for meeting the needs of our Indigenous clients and driving business growth in the commercial segments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage relationships with Indigenous commercial clients, providing exceptional service and advocacy within the Bank.
  • Proactively engage with internal partners, prospects, clients, and COIs to expand CIBC's presence and awareness of Indigenous communities and businesses.
  • Monitor and manage the profitability of CIBC's relationship with Indigenous clients, building a long-term mutually beneficial relationship.
  • Originate new client relationships, leveraging knowledge and expertise to grow the Indigenous Banking business and CIBC's overall Indigenous portfolio.
  • Ensure a one-team approach by presenting solutions that address every aspect of the Indigenous client's relationship with CIBC.
  • Conduct client relationship reviews annually and support Net Promoter Score activities to ensure retention.
  • Proactively assess client needs and propose products/solutions to meet those needs and the client's broader business objectives.
  • Accountable for credit risk, credit expiries, and the credit application process, ensuring a thorough understanding of the client's business and risk ratings.
  • Identify and mitigate risk, taking necessary steps to protect the Bank's position, including early advice to Credit Risk Management.
  • Manage all dealings internally and with clients in a manner consistent with CIBC policies and procedures.
  • Continuously identify and pursue personal development related to the role, sharing learning within the business.
  • Act as a mentor and/or provide guidance to Managers, Associates, and other support staff.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate the intricacies unique to Indigenous businesses, governance structures, and land designations, and how these characteristics influence credit and lending processes.
  • Excellent relationship, management, origination, and selling skills, with a track record of closing deals.
  • Ability to build a network, make new contacts, build relationships with Indigenous clients and prospects, and identify and/or create new opportunities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of strategic planning, business planning, forecasting, and modeling, with experience advising on strategic and best practices for growing and managing an Indigenous corporation.
  • Well-developed understanding of financing options and their applicability to various Indigenous business scenarios.
  • Comfort with exercising independent judgment and identifying and mitigating risk.
  • Demonstrated experience in formulating financial solutions, including the ability to conceptualize and execute broad-based financial deals for Indigenous clients.
  • Product knowledge, including a strong understanding of core commercial products and services, investment banking, capital markets, and other alternatives.
