About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead our Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team. As a key member of our engineering organization, you will be responsible for ensuring the resilience and scalability of our products in the cloud. Your team will be responsible for monitoring production, owning the incident management process, and influencing the engineering culture by promoting operational principles and infrastructure design.

Key Responsibilities
  • Grow and develop a team of talented SREs, providing guidance and mentorship to help them achieve their full potential.
  • Set direction for the team, anticipating strategic and scaling-related challenges, and developing plans to address them.
  • Participate in quarterly planning sessions to help the team develop achievable milestones and deliverables.
  • Communicate deliverable outcomes to engineering, product, and design teams, ensuring alignment and collaboration.
  • Contribute to Sentry's cloud strategy, working closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation and growth.
  • Foster a healthy and collaborative culture that embodies our values, promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
  • Be part of the escalation path for our on-call process, providing support and guidance to the team as needed.
Requirements
  • 5+ years of industry experience in software engineering, with a strong background in cloud operations and SRE.
  • 2+ years of people management experience, with a proven track record of developing and leading high-performing teams.
  • Experience working with distributed systems in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure), with a strong understanding of infrastructure design and operational principles.
  • Experience with tools that manage systems, including Terraform, Kubernetes, Salt, and Envoy.
  • Good written and spoken English communication skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bonus points for experience working with globally distributed teams and a strong understanding of cloud security and compliance.
What We Offer

Sentry is committed to providing a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $189,000 to $214,000, depending on location and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including equity grants, paid time off, and group health insurance coverage.
