About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Claims Specialist to join our Complex Injury Team at Intact Financial Corporation.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle a portfolio of Accident Benefit files, including complex and catastrophic claims.
- Analyze and interpret insurance policy wording to determine coverage and assess entitlements.
- Communicate effectively with customers, lawyers, and rehabilitation experts to report findings and provide updates.
- Instruct Counsel on files in dispute and participate in the dispute process.
- Conduct investigations and identify additional information required to clarify and/or justify a claim.
- Represent the company in the negotiation and settlement process at the License Appeal Tribunal.
- Complete regular reporting and liaise with Technical Services to ensure appropriate action and reserving is in place.
- Participate in Large Loss Meetings and complete coaching initiatives.
Requirements
- University degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- At least 5+ years of Accident Benefit claims handling experience.
- Knowledge of provincial legislation governing auto insurance, including ancillary legislation and the Dispute Resolution Practice Code.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels of staff.
- Excellent customer service skills and a can-do attitude.
