About the Role

Nexus Systems Group Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Senior API Developer to join our team. As a key member of our technology team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing our APIs to ensure they meet the highest standards of security and quality.

Key Responsibilities
  1. API Design and Development: Collaborate with our CIO teams to understand and document the design, technology stack, and security requirements of our APIs.
  2. Security Requirements: Develop a set of security requirements for our APIs based on industry best practices, such as OWASP Web and API Top 10.
  3. Unit Testing: Develop and integrate unit tests with our pipeline for build-time validation.
  4. API Testing: Code, test, and validate unit tests against our APIs.
  5. Process Improvement: Iterate on the process with multiple business lines and types of applications.
Requirements
  1. 10+ years of coding experience in OOP languages, ideally with Java.
  2. 7+ years of experience in programming APIs like REST, SOAP, gRPC, etc.
  3. 7+ years of experience in programming web-based applications, including SPA-based applications like Angular, React, and traditional apps like SpringBoot, JSP, etc.
  4. 5+ years of experience in using API testing tools, ideally with Postman.
  5. 3+ years of experience in documenting application architectures using Visio or PowerPoint.
Nice-to-Have Skills
  1. Secure coding skills including OWASP Web and OWASP API Top 10.
  2. Experience with API authentication methods like OIDC, OAuth, etc.
  3. Security testing with tools like Burp Suite.
  4. Financial industry experience.
Soft Skills
  1. Communication skills: Ability to understand and document application design by communicating with various stakeholders like Team Leads, BS's, Solution Architects, etc.
  2. Reporting skills: Ability to communicate to Senior Management on the outcomes of initiatives and weekly status/progress reports.
Education

Working experience preferred, education not mandatory.
