About the Opportunity
Brock University Library invites applications for a full-time, permanent position of Associate University Librarian, Research.
This senior academic administrative position is excluded from all bargaining units. The appointment will be for a 5-year term, renewable, with an underlying librarian appointment.
Job Description
The successful applicant will work closely with the University Librarian and other colleagues in the Library to provide creative leadership in the development and implementation of the Library's strategic priorities and objectives.
- Leadership in the strategic development and delivery of the Library's services advancing research at Brock, including collections, archives and special collections, and the research lifecycle departments.
- Collaboration with department heads and human resources and budgets.
- Sponsorship and leadership of key projects and initiatives.
Required Skills and Qualifications
A Master's degree from an ALA-accredited library program or equivalent is required.
Minimum of seven years of experience as a professional librarian or archivist demonstrating increasing levels of responsibility is also required.
- F formal leadership and management experience within a library or archives environment.
- Demonstrated ability to engage, empower and motivate people, and foster teamwork.
- Experience in leading and championing innovation in one or more of the areas in this portfolio (collections, archives and special collections, and the research lifecycle).
- Knowledge of library consortia and their role in licensing and managing access to resources.
- Knowledge of collection development theory and practice.
- Demonstrated success in managing within a unionized environment.
- Knowledge of strategic trends and operational issues impacting library services, collections, technologies and spaces.
- Highly collaborative and collegial, with the ability to participate in shared decision-making.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to advocate and promote library value.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with demonstrated success using innovation and flexibility to address challenges.
- Record of scholarship and/or professional development in the library and information science community.
- Understanding of inclusivity, accessibility, reconciliation and decolonization, and a demonstrated commitment to advance a diverse and inclusive work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to promote positive and safe organizational culture.
Salary
This senior academic administrative position comes with a salary commensurate with experience and qualifications. We estimate the salary range to be between $80,000 - $120,000 per annum.
