Infection Control Specialist for Long Term Care

At Extendicare Canada Inc., we are dedicated to providing exceptional care to our residents. As an Infection Control Specialist for Long Term Care, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and safety of our patients.
We are seeking an experienced professional with a strong background in infection control and prevention. Your expertise will be essential in implementing and monitoring site-specific policies and procedures related to infection control, as well as collaborating with healthcare teams to develop strategies for preventing the spread of infections.
This is a full-time opportunity that offers a competitive salary of approximately $85,000 per year, based on industry standards and locations. You will have the chance to work with a dynamic team and contribute to the development of evidence-based practices that enhance patient care.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement and monitor site-specific infection control policies and procedures
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop strategies for preventing the spread of infections
- Provide expert guidance on infection control best practices
- Conduct surveillance activities to identify and mitigate potential infection control risks
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to infection control activities
Requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree in a health-related field (e.g., nursing, microbiology, epidemiology)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a clinical healthcare setting or related field
- Certification in Infection Control from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CICB) is an asset
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
