About the Opportunity

The Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Food Service Worker to join our team in the Nutrition and Food Services department. As a Food Service Worker, you will play a vital role in providing excellent patient care by preparing and serving meals to patients, residents, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and serve patient meals, including assembling, portioning, and serving food and beverages
  • Deliver and collect patient trays, as well as deliver nourishments and supplies
  • Participate in receiving and storing supplies, including food and non-food items
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to food safety and sanitation standards
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients, residents, and staff
Requirements:
  • Grade 12 or equivalent education
  • Restaurant experience is considered an asset
  • Customer service skills are essential
  • Ability to work as part of a team to provide services and achieve departmental and/or organizational goals
  • Ability to perform duties within expected timeframes and standards of accuracy
  • Ability to communicate effectively while demonstrating civility and respect
Working Conditions:

The Food Service Worker will work in a fast-paced environment, with frequent physical demands including standing, walking, bending, lifting, and transferring/transporting equipment. Special footwear may be required for some food service areas.
