We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Food Service Worker to join our team at Health Association Nova Scotia. As a Food Service Worker, you will play a critical role in ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality in our kitchen.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve meals to clients, staff, and visitors in a safe and appealing manner.
  • Maintain daily quality assurance records, including food temperatures, fridge/freezer temperatures, and dishwasher temperatures.
  • Participate in regular training for food safety handling and apply all principles in the production and handling of food to ensure a safe food supply.
  • Understand and follow therapeutic diet principles and standards set by the dietician.
  • Perform other duties as required to maintain a clean and safe kitchen environment.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 certificate or currently enrolled in an educational institution.
  • Food safety and handling certificate or willingness to obtain one.
  • Experience in an institutional kitchen is considered an asset.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions without constant supervision.
  • Excellent oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member with co-workers within the organization.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding duties, including constant standing, lifting, bending, stretching, and moving.
