Environmental Logistics and Operations Manager

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Logistics and Operations Manager to lead our laboratory sample management team.
About the RoleThe ideal candidate will have a post-secondary education with at least 5 years' experience in the environmental industry. A minimum of 3 years of team leadership or supervisory experience is required. The successful candidate must be reliable, responsible, and motivated with excellent communication skills. They should be able to coach, mentor, and motivate staff while working collaboratively with Lab Operations and the Customer Service Team.
Key Responsibilities- Maximize human, equipment, and financial resources on a daily basis and ensure they are used appropriately.
- Produce quality client services in functions such as sample inspection, login, distribution, and archiving.
- Maintain a good working environment in the group to meet employee satisfaction regarding safety, training, recognition, and empowerment.
- Work closely with the manager to pursue strategic objectives and make recommendations for long-term improvements.
- Lead and develop staff, including recruitment, setting objectives, evaluating performance, coaching, mentoring, and developing career paths.
- Coordinate work schedules, workloads, and monitor status throughout the day.
- Evaluate functional performance of team members, conduct regular coaching sessions, identify opportunities for improvement, and develop action plans.
- Develop and monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure individual and team effectiveness.
- Provide clear direction, coaching, and support to team members to ensure efficient, effective, and professional interactions.
- Review, streamline, and develop/update departmental processes and work instructions to ensure high-quality service consistency and efficiency.
- Monitor sample logistics accuracy rates and recommend process improvements.
- Coordinate resource planning, staffing needs, and budgeting.
- Develop strategic plans to prepare the department for continued growth.
- A post-secondary education with at least 5 years' experience in the environmental industry.
- At least 3 years of team leadership or supervisory experience.
- Reliability, responsibility, and motivation with excellent communication skills.
- Ability to coach, mentor, and motivate staff.
- Collaborative working style with Lab Operations and the Customer Service Team.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent time-management, communication, multi-tasking, and priority-setting skills.
The estimated salary range for this position is $60,000-$80,000 per annum, depending on experience. The role offers medical benefits, retirement savings, and opportunities for professional growth and development within the company.
