We are seeking a highly skilled Pediatric Nurse Specialist to join our team at Fraser Health Authority. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide exceptional care to pediatric patients in our emergency unit and observation unit.

About the Role

As a Pediatric Nurse Specialist, you will conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, develop and implement personalized care plans, and collaborate with our inter-professional care team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients. Your expertise and experience will be essential in providing high-quality patient care, education, and support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans to meet the unique needs of each patient
  • Collaborate with the inter-professional care team to ensure seamless communication and coordination of patient care
  • Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, performing procedures, and monitoring patient vital signs
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with patients, families, and caregivers to ensure patient-centered care
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of policies and procedures to enhance patient care
Requirements

To be successful as a Pediatric Nurse Specialist, you will require:

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing and current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
  • At least two years of recent, related clinical nursing experience in pediatrics, preferably in an emergency or critical care setting
  • Certification in pediatric nursing is an asset
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to think critically and make sound judgments in high-pressure situations
