About the Opportunity

Nova Scotia Health is seeking a skilled Community Outreach Worker to join our team. As a key member of our Mental Health and Addictions department, you will provide clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental illness and/or substance use or gambling disorder.

The successful candidate will work in both clinic and community settings, providing a range of services including screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. You will play a key role in navigation, advocacy, and the coordination of resources and services within Mental Health and Addictions and the community.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in social work, preferably with experience in mental health and addictions. You will need to be knowledgeable about principles of harm reduction, community development, and psychosocial rehabilitation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Social Work degree, be registered or eligible for registration with a professional regulatory body, and have at least one year of post-BSW clinical experience in mental health and addictions. Screening and risk assessment skills, including suicide risk assessment, are also required.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who is:

  • Registered or eligible for registration with a professional regulatory body
  • Has at least one year of post-BSW clinical experience in mental health and addictions
  • Has screening and risk assessment skills, including suicide risk assessment
  • Has knowledge of principles of harm reduction, community development, and psychosocial rehabilitation
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Has the ability to build and maintain collaborative working relationships
