Community Health Worker

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a skilled Community Outreach Worker to join our team. As a key member of our Mental Health and Addictions department, you will provide clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental illness and/or substance use or gambling disorder.
The successful candidate will work in both clinic and community settings, providing a range of services including screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. You will play a key role in navigation, advocacy, and the coordination of resources and services within Mental Health and Addictions and the community.
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in social work, mental health, and addictions. You will have excellent assessment skills, the ability to implement an evidence-based plan of care, and experience in offering brief, supportive intervention strategies focusing on harm reduction and recovery.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Social Work degree, be registered or eligible for registration with a professional regulatory body, and have at least one year of post-BSW clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions. You will also have a working knowledge of the DSM, experience in group facilitation, and the ability to use motivational interviewing skills and engage with clients/families.
We offer a competitive hourly rate of $33.27-$42.01 and a long assignment full-time position with 75 hours biweekly. This is a temporary, hourly position with a duration of approximately 8 months.
