About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Community Outreach Worker to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a key member of our mental health and addiction services, you will provide a range of clinical services to adults and their families affected by mental illness and/or substance use or gambling disorder.

The successful candidate will work in both clinic and community settings, providing screening, assessment, brief intervention, case management/navigation, individual and group treatment. You will play a key role in navigation, advocacy, and the coordination of resources and services within Mental Health and Addictions and the community.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in social work, preferably with a Bachelor of Social Work degree and registration with a professional regulatory body. You will have a minimum of one year of post-BSW clinical experience in mental health and addiction services.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent assessment skills, the ability to implement an evidence-based plan of care, and a working knowledge of the DSM. You will also have experience in offering brief, supportive intervention strategies focusing on harm reduction and recovery, as well as the ability to navigate and de-escalate situations and offer crisis support.

About You
  • BSW degree and registration with a professional regulatory body
  • Minimum one year of post-BSW clinical experience in mental health and addiction services
  • Excellent assessment skills and ability to implement an evidence-based plan of care

Hours

This is a permanent full-time position with a 75-hour biweekly schedule.

Compensation and Benefits

The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $42.01.
