Job Description:

The University of Ottawa is seeking a highly skilled geoscientist to join its faculty as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences. This tenure-track position will focus on solid earth materials, with a strong emphasis on innovative research using experimental, theoretical, and field-based investigations.

About the Role:

We are looking for a scientist with an outstanding track record in research related to solid earth materials, including igneous and metamorphic minerals and microstructures, or ore geology. The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching across a broad spectrum of mineralogy or petrology-oriented courses and supervising students at various levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Research: Conduct cutting-edge research in solid earth materials, leveraging experimental, theoretical, and field-based approaches to understand geological systems.
  2. Teaching: Teach a range of courses in mineralogy or petrology, developing engaging curricula and assessments.
  3. Student Supervision: Mentor undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students, guiding their research projects and career development.
  4. Service: Contribute to departmental and faculty administrative activities, committee work, and professional service within the academic community.
