About the Role

DeVry Greenhouses Ltd. is a leading wholesale greenhouse and nursery company in western Canada, seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic Maintenance Operations Manager to join our Alberta Operations Team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintenance Management
    • Collaborate with the AB Projects and Facilities Manager to ensure all buildings and structures are well-maintained and in good repair.
    • Oversee the maintenance of all equipment and vehicles, including trucks, trailers, vehicles, tractors, and sprayers, as well as greenhouses and field equipment.
    • Develop and implement a preventative maintenance schedule for all equipment and vehicles.
    • Ensure MVI inspections are up-to-date, and all maintenance and repair documents are current and organized.
    • Expand the use of RTA for maintenance organization and cost tracking.
  • Support Maintenance and Construction Projects
    • Support the AB Projects and Facilities Maintenance Manager as needed for new construction and major renovations.
    • Track maintenance project costs for future reference and budgeting.
  • Collaboration and Leadership
    • Collaborate with the BC Project/Facilities/Fleet Manager to ensure alignment in maintenance programs across locations.
    • Work with the AB Operations Team to determine priority and schedule maintenance and projects.
    • Lead the greenhouse and shop maintenance crews, ensuring they have the necessary tools and parts for their tasks, and providing support by setting clear expectations and following up as needed.
    • Work with the AB Projects and Facilities Manager on capital or maintenance projects.
  • Safety and Cleanliness
    • Maintain clean and organized maintenance facilities throughout the year.
    • Enforce pre-trip inspections, daily maintenance, and ensure employees have the required training – equipment, safe work procedures, etc.
Requirements
  • Automotive or heavy-duty mechanic tickets are an asset.
  • Experience with RTA is an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Confident to help galvanize ideas with others.
  • Team player with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments, and able to take constructive feedback and learn.
