Job Summary

Barrhill Feeders Inc. is seeking a skilled Feed Truck Operator to join our team. As a Feed Truck Operator, you will be responsible for safely operating and driving the feed truck and loader to deliver feed to cattle in the feedlot.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and drive the feed truck and loader in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Deliver feed to cattle in the feedlot in a timely manner, three times a day.
  • Follow instructions from the Foreman and Nutritionist to ensure accurate feed delivery.
  • Maintain silage pits and feed commodities inventories on a daily basis.
  • Assist with unloading feed commodities and micro ingredients.
  • Perform daily feed mill operation and maintenance tasks.
  • Shovel bunks as needed.
  • Maintain the feed truck and loader in good working condition and perform light-duty equipment maintenance.
  • Communicate any irregularities to the Foreman.
  • Perform other feedlot duties as required, such as bedding, processing, yard maintenance, and operating equipment like skid-steers and loaders.
Requirements
  • Valid driver's license (Class 3 or Class 1A licenses are considered an asset).
  • Good attitude and team player.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Experience with operating equipment (loader, tractor, etc.).
  • Experience in feed mill operation, feeding, and the feedlot industry (preferred, but not required).
  • Cattle handling skills (preferred, but not required).
Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities
  • Driving for extended periods of time.
  • Repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to lift 60 lbs.
  • Combination of sitting, standing, and walking.
  • Combination of indoor and outdoor work.
  • Use of computerized feed system.
Work Schedule

Shift rotation: 8 days on, 4 days off, followed by 7 days on, 2 days off.

Hours: 5:30 AM - 4:30 PM (subject to change based on the time of year).
