About the Role

The Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a skilled and compassionate Child Transportation Specialist to join our team. This permanent, part-time position offers an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and families.

Key Responsibilities

  • Transport and support children, youth, and parents for family access visits, appointments, and other transportation needs as requested by social workers.
  • Ensure the safety of children and provide basic childcare services during transportation.
  • Provide oversight during contact between children and their families, and support networks as needed.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Certified child & youth care worker diploma from a provincially approved post-secondary institution or equivalent experience in child welfare or social services.
  • Valid driver's license, ability to travel, and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to communicate professionally, using tact and diplomacy when dealing with sensitive situations.

  • A competitive salary range of $46,809 - $55,141 per year, based on the employment status and union agreement.
