Job Title: Senior Manager, Global Variety Development

McCain Foods is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Manager, Global Variety Development to lead our global variety development efforts. This role will be responsible for strategically leading and facilitating relationships with key external partners, securing and developing new potato varieties to create a competitive advantage for McCain Foods.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead global variety development efforts to secure and develop new potato varieties
  • Facilitate relationships with key external partners, including potato variety breeders, universities, and institutes
  • Develop and implement strategies to create a competitive advantage for McCain Foods through global management and maintenance of variety product profiles
  • Work with global and regional teams to problem solve and develop strategies to excel the movement and growth of new potato varieties within the McCain network
  • Manage variety agreements, variety introduction, variety customer approvals, and lead a team to ensure the execution of new variety agreements and support reporting on new varieties
  • Produce insights based on the global variety database to facilitate strategic decision making within the regions
  • Ensure global information exchange through the database by establishing dashboards and other data analysis outputs as required
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science in Agriculture
  • P.Ag, experience in potato crop production + 5 years experience
  • Credential in Leadership, and Business Management, Certified Crop Advisor
  • Extensive experience with relationship management, knowledge and experience in crop trials, extensive experience in potato processing, extensive experience in seed production and supply, extensive experience in variety protection globally, track record of implementing solutions to established timelines, strong network and relationships with key institutes
