Stikeman Elliott LLP is seeking a highly skilled financial services regulatory associate to join our corporate department in Toronto. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial services regulation and a keen interest in the subject area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide advisory and transactional support on a wide range of financial services regulatory matters.
  • Assist in the development of policies and procedures related to financial services regulation.
  • Conduct research and analysis on emerging regulatory issues.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to provide comprehensive regulatory advice to clients.

Requirements:

  • Law degree and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
  • Excellent academic credentials.
  • Strong research and writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and client service skills.
  • Ability to work well on a variety of teams.

Experience:

  • Regulatory compliance, advisory and transactional support in respect of financial institutions and other financial services providers.
  • Provincial insurance licensing matters.
  • Regulation of retail payments.
  • Consumer protection and cost of borrowing matters.
  • Debt collection and credit reporting.
  • AML, ATF matters and the regulation of payments service providers.
  • Sanctions compliance.
  • Emerging regulatory issues relating to AI, open banking and digital assets.
