Job Title: Hospital Admissions Clerk

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Hospital Admissions Clerk to join our team at the Northern Regional Health Authority.

Job Summary:

The Hospital Admissions Clerk will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to patients, families, and healthcare providers. This role will involve greeting patients, directing them to contacts or service areas, and providing basic information to clients and the public.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Greet patients and families, and direct them to the appropriate contact or service area.
  • Provide basic information to clients and the public, including hospital policies and procedures.
  • Obtain and process information required to provide customer service, such as patient demographics and medical history.
  • Operate the switchboard or telephone system to answer calls and relay messages.
  • Perform clerical duties, such as filing, sorting, and distributing mail.
  • Answer telephone calls and relay messages to healthcare providers and other staff members.
  • Calculate billing charges and process payments.
  • Monitor mobile radio or telephone for emergency calls and messages.
  • Provide directory assistance and relay service to persons with disabilities.
  • Perform data entry and maintain accurate records.
Requirements:
  • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office.
