We are seeking a skilled Youth Support Specialist to join our team at Coast Mental Health.
Job Summary:
The successful candidate will provide community-based psycho-social rehabilitation services to youth experiencing mental health issues, addictions, and homelessness.
Responsibilities:
- Community outreach and engagement with youth in the Maple Ridge area.
- Developing and implementing individualized life skills programs for clients.
- Providing support and advocacy for clients accessing community services.
- Working collaboratively with other agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
- Facilitating groups and providing education on life skills and strategies.
- Ensuring the implementation of program activities, including leisure, cooking, and housekeeping tasks.
- Observing and recording client physical and mental health status and taking necessary action.
- Collaborating with clients, peers, supervisors, and relatives to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements:
- Diploma in Community Social Service or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of housing issues, local resources, and harm reduction approaches.
- Crisis de-escalation skills, trauma-informed approach, and psychosocial rehabilitation practices.
- Experience working with marginalized, underserved, and at-risk populations.
- Ability to communicate effectively, work independently and collaboratively, and facilitate groups.
