About Us
The Government of Nova Scotia's Department of Public Works is responsible for maintaining Nova Scotia's 23,000 kilometers of roads and highways and 4,100 bridges.
As a valued member of our team, you will contribute to the safety of our province by operating snow removal equipment such as snow-plows, graders, and loaders. Your role involves general maintenance of the equipment, pre-and-post trip inspections, and completion of daily logs.
Qualifications and Experience
To be eligible for this position, applicants must be declared competent as an OPTP (One Person Truck Plow) operator by the Department of Public Works.
A Class I license, knowledge of hydraulic systems, mechanical aptitude, and previous experience operating trucks with salt and plow equipment are considered assets. Strong reading and writing comprehension skills are necessary for completing daily logs and inspection reports.
Working Conditions
You will work in various weather conditions, including environmental hazards, traffic conditions, and above normal noise, dust, and vibrations.
Additional Information
This opportunity is part of the 17-week Winter Works Period position. You will be guaranteed a minimum ninety (90) hours for every two calendar weeks during the Winter Works period.
We offer competitive compensation for this position. The estimated salary range for this role is $23.65 Hourly.
