About the Role

The Ontario Medical Association (OMA) is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Media and Social Media Advisor to join our team. As a key member of our communications team, you will play a critical role in shaping the OMA's media and social media strategy to advance our mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Media Relations: Develop and implement a proactive media relations strategy to secure media coverage and build relationships with key media contacts.
  • Social Media Management: Create and curate engaging content for our social media platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, to promote the OMA's brand and messaging.
  • Content Creation: Develop and produce high-quality content, including press releases, media advisories, and social media posts, to support the OMA's communications goals.
  • Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and analyze social media metrics to inform content strategy and optimize engagement.
  • Crisis Communications: Develop and implement a crisis communications plan to ensure timely and effective response to media inquiries and social media crises.
  • Collaboration and Teamwork: Work closely with the communications team to develop and implement integrated communications strategies that support the OMA's mission and goals.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, or a related field.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of experience in media relations, social media management, and content creation.
  • Skills: Proven track record of securing media coverage, creating engaging social media content, and analyzing social media metrics.
  • Tools and Software: Proficiency in social media management tools, such as Hootsuite or Sprout Social, and content creation software, such as Adobe Creative Cloud.
