Métis Economic Development Officer Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Métis Economic Development Officer to join our team at the Manitoba Métis Federation. The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing economic and community development initiatives that benefit the Red River Métis Citizens, businesses, and entrepreneurs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement economic and community development action plans that align with the MMF's priorities and directives;
  • Support key economic development initiatives that promote Red River Métis inclusion and participation in various sectors;
  • Conduct sector-specific data analysis to identify opportunities for economic growth and community development;
  • Build and maintain relationships with community partners, Red River Métis Citizens, and entrepreneurs to advance economic and community development initiatives;
  • Support MMF Ministers with an economic development mandate through the delivery of initiatives and activities.
Requirements:
  • College or University education related to Commerce, Business Administration, or a combination of relevant experience and education;
  • Experience working in economic and community development, or in a private sector context with experience in advancing collective or company interests;
  • Experience conducting data analysis or research, or a strong understanding of data analysis principles;
  • Demonstration of strong interpersonal skills with experience interacting with diverse groups of team members, partners, and clients;
  • Experience working for a not-for-profit organization and/or Indigenous Government is an asset;
  • Knowledge of Red River Métis culture, MMF programs, and services is a definite asset;
  • Ability to travel, valid Manitoba Driver's license with access to a reliable vehicle.
